1. How long does the visa procedure take?

A Non EU Au pair can get a visa in 2- 4 weeks. In exceptional cases it can take up to 3 months.  

2. Is an au pair expense covered by kindertoeslag? 

No. The costs of an au pair are not eligible for child allowance (kindertoeslag). But still having an Au pair is much less expensive than other child care options.

3. How long can an Au pair stay with us?

Non EU Au pair comes for 12 months period. EU Au pairs are coming for 2 – 12 months. In Tulip Au pair Fees will also be less for short stay.

4. Is it allowed to bring a family member to the Netherlands as Au pair?

No, the au pair must not be related to the host family. This includes family relationships up to the 3rd degree between the au pair and the host family.

5. Which type of changes should we inform Tulip Au pair?

Changes to the weekly schedule, pregnancy, birth of a child, change of address, divorce, job loss by one or both parents, changes in salary, departure of the au pair, termination of the contract etc.

6. Can an au pair stay at a different address from the host family?

No, the au pair is definitely not permitted to reside or be registered at an address other than that of host family.

7. Can an Au pair look after children other than those of the host family?

No, the au pair is not responsible for any other children aside from the children of her host family.

8. Who pays for flight ticket?

Flight ticket can be bought by host family or Au pair or cost can be shared. Its important to have a return flight ticket.

9. What if host family refuses to follow Au pair schedule even after warnings?

Tulip agency have to withdrew the Au pair from the host family. We will try to rematch Au pair with another host family.

9. Can a Au pair be male?

Yes. An Au pair can be male. Though there are less male Au pairs.

10. What insurances are needed for Au pair?

Au pair should have a basic Dutch health insurance. Its also recommended to have an Au pair insurance though not mandatory. It covers the emergency medical expenses. It covers the liability of Au pair in host family home. The luggage of Au pair is insured, not only during the stay and while travelling.
