Conditions for host family

  • Have real interest in cultural exchange
  • Host family consists of 2 or more people that are registered at the municipality
  •  There is an extra bedroom with wardrobe, internet and heating for Au pair
  •  Gives free food and lodging and takes au pair in as part of the family
  • Income requirement of 1,5 times the legal minimum wage in The Netherlands for 1 year
  • For 2023 Income requirement without holiday allowance is € 2,902 and with holiday allowance is 3,134
  • Documents for Employees - Employment contract, Payroll slips for the last 3 months
  • Documents for Self employed - Extract from Chamber of commerce, Statement of income self-employed, Provisional or definitive  tax assessment (IB-aanslag)

OUR Process

1. Contact us

Host families can contact us by Whatsapp, contact form or phone for more information. This contact offers no obligations at all. We are ready to provide you with all information so you can decide if you need an Au pair or not.

2. Family intake interview

The interview will take place at the host family’s home and is completely free of charge and is non-binding for both parties. We also need check the room for Au pair. We can present you with a number of profiles of possible Au pair candidates during the interview or after the interview.

3. Au pair interviews

 Host family can have a video interviews with the potential Au pairs. After this the Host family can inform Tulip agency of their selected Au pair.  Incase if you already have a candidate au pair  (pre-match), we will interview that Au pair.

4. Visa application

Tulip Au pair can submit the application for Au pair visa. Normally it takes 2-4 weeks for visa approval by IND. Flight ticket and Au pair insurance need to be purchased.  Flight ticket cost can be paid by Au pair or host family or can be shared. Tulip agency will guide you in that process. [EU Au pairs do not need a visa]

5. Welcome Au pair

Host family or agency need to receive Au pair at the Airport. Au pair need to collect residence permit from Ind, get registered at municipality and do a TB test. Au pair need to apply for health insurance and the money spend on insurance could be refunded. 

6. Continued agency support

Tulip agency will continue supporting host family and Au pair  during the stay as Au pair. We as an agency has legal obligation to monitor the work schedule and task done by Au pair to make sure that it does not break IND rules. We organize several cultural events for Au pair throughout the year.
